What do we need?

The Vice President, Data Engineering, is responsible for the strategy, planning and overall management and administration of the Data Engineering and Architecture function.  This position is  responsible for defining and implementing the enterprise data and analytics mandate for the company in alignment with the enterprise Strategy and Product functions, ensuring data standards and governance for data interoperability and extract, transform and load (ETL) processes.  They provide direction and oversight to the teams in charge of the enterprise data model, data interoperability and application programming interface (API) integration, data engineering for ETL processes and database administration.

The Vice President, Data Engineering, is an influential role supporting the growth of the organization.  This role’s voice into the data strategy of the company is essential to the overall value expansion of the company, and the impact of the pace and quality of performance of the team’s execution under this role’s responsibility is pivotal to Aspirion’s mid to long term value.  The VP, Data Engineering’s ability to impact strategy, drive our roadmap and prioritize our investments is critical.  Strong success as a leader in recruiting, retaining, and developing high performing teams is also key to success in this role.  The VP, Data Engineering will work closely with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and peer IT leaders.  As a forward-looking technology leader, this position will co-develop an enterprise data strategy with the enterprise product function and drive through to execution and support for both current needs and future scalability.

What will you provide?

  • Collaborate with the CTO and Product Management function to develop a multiyear data and analytics strategy to accelerate revenue growth; co-develop and own the data roadmap execution.
  • Design and implement a data driven operating model across the company; oversee data strategy, data architecture, data governance, reference and master data, data analytics and data product management functions across the enterprise.
  • Lead major strategic, cross-functional initiatives in alignment with the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), Chief AI Officer (CAIO), and Product Management to develop a data single source of truth, business intelligence, advanced analytical capabilities (ML/AI), process automation (robotics), and multi-cloud capabilities across lines of business and corporate functions.
  • Enhance data management capabilities, develop standardization in and mature our approach in how we access, sort, store, maintain and leverage data; build capacities and practices to allow for retro-application of new standards, processes, and controls.
  • Improve the quality and value of critical business data to drive the growth agenda, meet regulatory requirements, and incorporate data intelligence into practical applications.
  • Support strategic and tactical level planning in partnership with the Product Management team to develop technical roadmap and ensure delivery of supportable technology solutions that meet business needs.
  • Partner with the CTO and IT Leadership Team to build and modernize the organizational structure and business processes to support our growth by building, retaining, and leading a high-performing multi-disciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable and experience with data practices (e.g., Operational Data Store, Master Data Management, Data Lakes) and tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, DataBricks, Power BI).
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and projects, work to tight timeframes and achieve exceptional outcomes.
  • Ability to be analytical, creative, and collaborative while driving change up, down and across the enterprise; able to transform the most valuable ideas into actionable plans, products, and results.
  • Strong collaborator with experience leading initiatives across, and partnering with, multiple groups and stakeholders.  Specifically, a demonstrated ability to work across product, engineering, and analytics teams to evaluate new ideas, discuss technical concepts, establish priorities and timelines, make tradeoffs, and remove roadblocks.
  • Visible leadership skills and executive presence; can motivate individuals and teams to achieve program and project objectives.
  • Ability to prioritize initiatives based on the evolving financial needs of the company, making consistently strategic recommendations to company leadership; ability to pivot, transition plans and lead change if priorities shift or evolve.
  • Ability to work in and manage ambiguity, including dealing effectively with issues that do not always have a process, system, or solution in place.
  • Exceptional service orientation and ability to lead change using positive and collaborative methods; removes barriers, acts with a sense of urgency, and leads by example.

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in technology leadership positions with an emphasis on data interoperability and data engineering required.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field required; MS, MBA or related advanced degree is a plus.
  • Proven leadership experience, including growing, leading, directing, and controlling a complex, highly technical operation or organization.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions.
  • Experience leading in a complex, evolving industry; healthcare/revenue cycle/medical billing strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of business concepts, and an understanding of the links between major business processes, products, systems, and networks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging technologies and the ability to apply those technologies to business needs.
  • A proven track record of working collaboratively and productively with business partners, at all levels in the organization.

The US base pay range for this position starts at $165,000 annually. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, education, training, licensure or certifications obtained. Market, location and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a bonus tied to achieved results.
